Dr.  HANUMANTHA RAO ALLAM M.B.,B.S. , M.S. (Ophthalmology), passed on peacefully January 21, 2007 in Orlando due to a stroke.

Born December 11, 1933 in Peddapuram, Andhra Pradesh, India, to Allam Panchamukeswar Rao and Annapurnamma.

Dr. Allam was a loving, kind, compassionate human being with humble beginnings in India. He traveled to Jamaica and practiced Ophthalmology & completed a Masters degree in Public Health at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore before retiring to Winter Haven in 1997.

His success in life is measured by the silent strength he provided for family & friends. He will be missed dearly by his loving wife 47 years, Usha Rao Allam; children, Dr. Mahesh G. and Tania Allam, Dr. Rupa and Avinash Varma, Drs. Pushpa and Mallikarjuna Nandyala, Vani and Dr. Abhijit Limaye, and Malli Allam; grandchildren, Shalini & Nikhita Allam, , Arjun & Yasmeen Varma, Arathi & Vikram Nandyala, Meera & Nishaant Limaye, and Syra De; and Brothers & Sisters from California, Maryland & India.

Services in his honor will take place from 2:00pm till 5:00pm with Hindu Rites at 4:00pm, Friday, January 26, 2007 in the Oak Ridge Funeral Care Chapel, 2425 Havendale Blvd., N.W., Winter Haven, FL 33881.
In lieu of flowers, donations to ORBIS Eye Foundation will be accepted and can be sent to 3956 Cypress Landing, Winter Haven, FL 33884.
