AUBURNDALE - Steven Clifford McCarty, 59, of Auburndale, died of cancer on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at his residence.

Born Nov. 17, 1947, in Opp, Ala., he came to the area from Alabama in 1968. He was a truck driver for Saddle Creek Trucking Company and was a member of the National Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda McCarty of Auburndale; a son, Kevin S. McCarty of Bartow; a daughter, Tracy Rainer of Auburndale; two brothers, Cecil (Jewell) McCarty of Auburndale and T.J. (Frances) McCarty of Winter Haven; three sisters, Peggy (Ronnie) Jones of Winter Haven , Betty (Gordon) Flowers of Alabama and Merlene Ernewein of New York; and three grandchildren, Cody, Shyana, Shawn Michael; and one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Unive McCarty and a sister, Madeline Bass.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Oak Ridge Funeral Care. Burial will be at Auburndale Memorial Park. Condolences may be sent via www.oakridgefuneralcare.com.
