WINTER HAVEN - Don Pate, 74, of Eagle Lake, died Jan. 11, 2007, due to complications from a stroke.

Born April 23, 1932, in Plant City, to Curtis L. and Maggie L. Pate, he moved to Eagle Lake in 1967. He was the owner/operator of Don Pate Hauling and was a member of Inman Park Church of Christ.

Pate was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Darryl Pate and a brother, Coy Pate.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Elizabeth Pate; two sons, Dennis Pate of Auburndale and Dr. Dwight Pate of Lake Alfred; a daughter, Anita Kingsley of Winter Haven; a brother, Dewey Griffin of Wimauma; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 14, 2007, at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 2425 Havendale Blvd., Winter Haven. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Oak Ridge Funeral Care Chapel with Mr. Steve Diaz officiating.
