DAVENPORT, FLORIDA - Arnold Gustav Torgersen of Davenport died February 26, 2007 at Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center in Davenport. He was 86.
Born to Gustav Torgersen and Anna Hammer Torgersen on September 20, 1920, in Davenport, Florida, Mr. Torgersen was a lifelong resident of Davenport. He was the owner and operator of Torgersen Watch and Clock Repair in Davenport. A veteran of the US Army, he was a cook instructor during WWII. He was a member of Davenport United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years. He was a past Mayor of the City of Davenport.
Mr. Torgersen is survived by his wife, Jean Davis Torgersen; daughters, Judith Thompson of Davenport, Gloria Torgersen of Davenport; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2007, in the funeral home chapel. Reverend Pam Rhodes, Davenport United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Davenport.
