HAINES CITY - Hellan D. McDowell, age 90, of Haines City, FL, died, 9/21/07, in Davenport, FL due to congestive heart failure.
She was born February 6, 1917 in Birmingham, AL and moved to Haines City from there in 1998. She was retired from the Medical Center East, where she worked as a nurse, she was a member of the Lake Wales Baptist Church and Lakewood Baptist Church back in Birmingham and she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #74 of Winter Haven.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Ethel Chambers Drake; her husband Cecil Clyde McDowell and her 3 brothers, Clifford, Wallace, Torrence Drake and she is survived by her daughters, Joan Marie McDowell-Moore of Riverside, CA, Beverly Joyce McDowell-Hudson of Haines City, FL; her grandchildren, Wayne, Rita and Daryl Moore, Alan and Michael Ragsdale; her great grandchildren, Rebecca, Rachael and Kylie Moore, Sydney and Tristen Ragsdale, Breanne Patterson and Katlin Ragsdale; and her great great grandchildren, Bradley and Paul Patterson.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 pm. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City. Burial will take place in Alabama.
