HAINES CITY, Florida - James E. Sanford of Haines City passed away Saturday, September 1, 2007 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Florida. He was 86.
Born in Saltillo, Tennessee on July 14, 1921 the son of Thomas E. Sanford and Mary White Sanford, he moved here from Tennessee in 1949. He was the owner and operator of Sanford's Welding in Haines City. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Winter Haven Moose Lodge. He was an Army Veteran of WW II where he had participated in the Normandy Invasion earning the Purple Heart, Bronze and Silver Star.
He is survived by sons, Douglas J. and wife Denise Sanford of Haines City, Florida, Russell L. Sanford of Davenport, Florida, Charles E. Sanford of Davenport; daughter, Sherry L. Pridgen of Haines City; brothers, W. D. Sanford of Victoria, Texas, Paul Sanford of Salado, Texas, Tommy O'Neil Sanford of Savannah, Tennessee; sisters Eva Lee Hancock of Bristow, Oklahoma, Pat Shamus of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2007 at the funeral Home.
