Peter Bailey passed away peacefully at his home in Grenelefe, Florida after a valiant battle with cancer.
 
Peter was born in Manchester, England on October 27, 1940 to Freida Baird (nee Heath) Bailey and Jack Bailey.
 
Peter moved his family to the United States in 1970 where he worked for one of the first giants in the super-computer business, Control Data Corporation
in Bloomington, Minnesota.  Peter rose to the position of President of Commercial Credit Corporation, and held several Director positions with subsidiaries of CDC including McCullagh Leasing, Commercial Credit, and ERA.
 
He launched several companies as a Venture Capitalist and served for several years as a business consultant.  Peter was solicited by The Royal Bank of Scotland to take control at ailing British Company, Rodime PLC.
 
Peter also won a rare and coveted ³Queens Award for Industry² for his efforts to support business growth in the UK.
 
He is survived by his loving wife and companion of almost 50 years, Maureen, his daughters Janet (Lewis), Susan (Pararas Jensen) and Alison (Bailey-Gouge¹), sons-in-law Darwin Lewis, William O. Jensen III, and Steven Gouge¹,
granddaughters Samantha, and Bailey, and grandson Griffin.  Peter is also survived by his brother John, sister-in-law Diane and many nieces and nephews.
 
Peter was an avid golfer and card player and served as President of both the Beech Mountain and the Grenelefe Golf Resort Homeowners Associations.  He was also a member at Diamondback Golf Club and the Beech Mountain Club in
North Carolina.
 
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Michael Degnan, the caring staff at Cornerstone Hospice in Haines City and their many friends and neighbors.
 
Funeral services will be held at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 1001 Grace Ave, Haines City 33844. (863) 422-3933.  Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm Friday October 26, with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 pm.  Memorials may be made in Peters¹ memory to the American Cancer Society.
