Winter Haven, Fl – Joan Ritter Hurgeton, 76, of Winter Haven died, Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007 at the Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center due to heart failure, after having been a three time cancer survivor over the past 32 years..
Born March 19, 1931 in New Kingstown, PA to Elmer and Julia Ritter, she was a resident of Winter Haven for the past 33 years.She was a homemaker while her children were being raised before becoming a receptionist in her family business. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Winter Haven and a past member of the Lions Club Women’s Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Myron Ritter.
She is survived by: her husband, David B Hurgeton, Sr.; a son, David B Hurgeton, Jr.; 2 daughters, Joellyn Collier of Winter Haven and Janelle Swilley of Babson Park, FL; a brother, Elmer L Ritter of Mechanicsburg, PA; a sister, Genevieve Bromley of New Kingstown, PA; and four grandchildren, Kayla Collier, Julia Swilley, Alyssa Swilley and Jacki Swilley.
The family will receive friends from 5:00PM till 7:00PM, Monday, October 29, 2007 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 2425 Havendale Blvd., NW.Funeral Services will be held at 4:00PM, Tuesday in the Oak Ridge Funeral Care Chapel.Burial will be later in the Longsdorf Cemetery in New Kingstown, PA.
