WINTER HAVEN, FL – Floyd W. Knapp, 84, of Winter Haven, died Thursday, October 25, 2007 at his residence due to Heart Failure.
Born March 12, 1923 to the late Guy and Genevieve Knapp, he moved to Winter Haven in 1989 from Corning, NY. Floyd was a retired dairy farmer and had also worked as the plant director for Corning Community College. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winter Haven; a founding member of the Winter Haven Woodworkers; and a member of the Polk County Wood Turning Assn. He was also a veteran of WWII, having served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre as a Bombardier.
He is survived by: his wife of 64 years, Mary Helen Knapp; 2 sons, Bruce Knapp of Ellicott City, MD and Gregory Knapp of York, NY; 3 daughters, Sandra Wolf of Riverdale, NJ, Marcia Baker of Winter Haven, FL and Pamela Rivkin of West Bloomfield, MI; 3 sisters, Betty Putman of Corning, NY, Edith Root of Addison, NY and Judy Smith of Beaver Dams, NY; Seventeen grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm till 7:00pm, Monday, October 29, 2007 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 2425 Havendale Blvd., NW, Winter Haven, FL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007 in the Oak Ridge Funeral Care Chapel with Dr. Walter Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
