DAVENPORT, FL - Mrs. Martha Clarke, 86, of Davenport, FL went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at her daughter’s home in Davenport due to congenial heart failure.
She was born October 23, 1920 in Hamilton, Alabama where she was a member of Freewill Baptist Church. She moved to Davenport in 1960. She was a retired Registered Nurse; she worked as Director of Nurses at Bishop Gray Inn for 27 years. She also served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army as a nurse during WW II. Her favorite hobbies were fishing and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Clarke, who was of Statesboro, GA. She is survived by her sister, Vera Miller of Adnan, MI; daughters, Debi Sullivan of Kissimmee, Ann Clarke of Davenport; sons, James Clarke of Clermont, FL, and Gary Clarke of Haines City; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2007 from 10-11 a.m. with services following at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City. Interment will be at later date in Statesboro, GA.
