HAINES CITY, Florida - Mr. William Wayne "Kim" Kimbrel, Jr. died on Friday, November 9, 2007 in Doha, Qatar. He was 55.
Born to William Wayne Kimbrel, Sr. and Miriam Wanda Boyd Kimbrel on September 7, 1952 in Yokohama, Japan, he was an "Army Brat" attending schools in Germany, Florida, Georgia and Louisiana where he graduated with honors from Leesville High School and was a star runner on the track team. He attended Louisiana State University, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and the University of Oxford in England. He was a professor of American and English Literature at Gulf University of Science and Technology in Kuwait City, Kuwait. He was a Veteran of the United States Army where he served as a specialist in the Medical Corp during the Viet Nam Era.
Mr. Kimbrel is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Dominique Lloyd-Kimbrel; parents, William, Sr. and Miriam Kimbrel; sisters, Wanda Lee Kimbrel and Diana Lynn Kimbrel; brother, Charles Steven Kimbrel and Paul Grover Kimbrel; many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p. m. Monday, November 19, 2007 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City. There will be a Graveside Service at 11:00 a. m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Evergreen Cemetery in Davenport, Florida.
