James Fredrick Fisher

James F Fisher 

 

Winter Haven – James Fredrick Fisher, 82, of Winter Haven, FL passed away at his home on Monday, June 25, 2007 of cancer.
 
Jim was born April 20, 1925 in Williamsport, Pa. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean, his daughters, Nancy McClung, Linda Payne and Judy Fitzgerald and his brother Dale Fisher, of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. He has five granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
 
He served in the Navy during World War II from 1942-45. Jim graduated with his PhD in Biochemistry from Penn State and worked as a research chemist.  The last 20 years of his career were at the University of Florida Citrus and Research Center.  Jim was a boat captain, a pilot, a magician and shared his love of chemistry and physical science by teaching as an adjunct professor at Polk Community College for three years. He enjoyed playing the clarinet, scuba diving and karate.
 
Services will be held at Oak Ridge Funeral Home on Thursday, June 28 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.
