LAKE ALFRED - Haskell Hughes, 82, of Lake Alfred, died Monday, December 24, 2007 at Winter Haven Hospital due to respiratory failure.

 Born to Charles C. and Ora Mae Hackworth Hughes on May 7, 1925 in Pikesville, KY he moved to the area in 1983 from Jackson, MI.  He was a woodworker and retired from Hughes Construction where he had worked as a carpenter.   Haskell loved Bluegrass Music.

He is survived by: his wife of 18 years, Marjorie Hughes; two sons, Dennis Hughes of Peru, IN and Cyrus Hughes of Jackson, MI; a daughter, Karen Messersmith of Hudson, MI; 5 step-sons; a step-daughter; 3 grandsons; 5 great-grandchildren; and 12 step-grandchildren.

 A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 in the First Church of God, 3025 US Hwy 92 W, Winter Haven, FL 33881.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.oakridgefuneralcare.com.
