BARTOW, FL - Sherrill Lynn Word of Bartow, FL, passed away after a five year battle with breast cancer Thursday, December 6, 2007 at home. She was 56.
A native of Barbourville, KY, born January 18, 1951, Sherrill has been a lifelong resident of the area. She was a Office Clerk for Brighthouse Networks, and was a member of the West Winter Haven Church of God. Sherrill was predeceased by her parents, Oscar and Rebecca Smith and her sister: Carolyn Smith.
She is survived by her husband: Terry Word of Bartow, FL, her daughters: Kathy (Tim) Troller of Winter Haven, FL; Lesley (James) Douglas of Deltona, FL; Donna Segna of Winter Haven, FL; Stephanie Hunter of Winter Haven; her brothers: James Smith of MI; Jody Smith of FL; Rondal Smith of MI; Terry Smith of MI; Harold Smith of MI; Michael Smith of SC; her sisters: Corine Click of MI; Ann Barringer of MI; Cleadie Williams of MI; and Jeanette Berry of MI. Sherrill also has nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way.
Visitation will be Saturday from 5 to 7 PM at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. Services will be Sunday,2:30 PM at the Winter Haven Church of God in Winter Haven with Pastor Carl Thomas officiating.
