WINTER HAVEN - Harry Nix Kingsbery of Winter Haven, FL passed away Saturday, December 1,2007 at his residence from cancer. He was 94 years old.
A native of Carrollton, GA, Harry moved here 21 years ago from Miami, FL. He was Branch Manager for Chase Federal Savings & Loan Assoc. and opened their first branch on Miami Beach in 1946. Harry served in the US Army in the Pacific Theatre during World War II; was president of the Dade County Chapter 29 of the Savings & Loan Institute, and awarded the Presidents cup at the 1961 national convention. Harry was also a former member of the First Christian Church of Miami, and is currently a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Winter Haven.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgia Greenwood Kingsbery in 1947, a sister, Dorothy Woodall and brother, Pat Kingsbery. He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Mareida Kingsbery of Winter Haven, FL; his sons: Harry Greenwood (Norma) Kingsbery of Manassas, VA, and David Rector (Danyse) Kingsbery of Charlotte, NC; his daughter: Bonnie (Bruce) Kingsbery Gaynair of Lakeland, FL; his sister: Frances Wilcher of Norcross, GA; grandchildren: Stefanie Ragano, Meredith Johnson, Katharine Henderson, Sarah Kingsbery, Joshua Fain; and his great-grandchildren: Madelyn and Nicklaus Ragano.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 2:00 PM from the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), with The Reverend Greg Shaw officiating.
