 Loyd Lee Henderson

WINTER HAVEN - Mr. Loyd Lee Henderson of Winter Haven, Florida died Aril 28, 2007 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, due to respiratory failure. Loyd, the son of Leila Brady Henderson and Thomas Lee Henderson was born in Forsythe County Georgia on January 2, 1923.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Joseph and Ray Henderson.
Loyd attended Georgia Tech but his education there was interrupted by World War II when he enlisted in the Navy Air Corps.
Loyd and wife Doris moved to Lake Alfred , Florida with their young family in the 1950's from Atlanta, Georgia and have resided in Winter Haven for the past 18 years.
The Henderson’s have been active members since the early 1950's of the First Baptist Church in Lake Alfred where he was instrumental in helping to build the present church at it's site on Pierce Street.

Retiring as a supervisor with the Florida Citrus Experiment Station after 31 years of service, he enjoyed traveling with Doris, and deep sea fishing. Loyd was a "People Person" with a terrific sense of fun and humor. He, more than anything, enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. Everyone who knew this gentle bear of a man loved him!

A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Loyd is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years Doris Henderson, son Gary Henderson and wife Jeri of Lake Afred, daughter, Sarah Henderson Johnson and husband Stuart of Tampa. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Ethan, Ryan, Byron, and Patricia Henderson, and Lauren Johnson, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 1st at First Baptist Church of Lake Alfred, conducted by Rocky Branch. Friends will be received from 10:AM at the church. Memorials may be sent to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Avenue, Auburndale, FL 33823. Condolences to www.oakridgefuneralcare.com
