FROSTPROOF, FLORIDA - Verita Melhorn of Frostproof, Florida died April 10, 2007 at her home. She was 81.

Born on October 21, 1925 in Orange County, Florida, toHarvey Cribbs and Gladys Woodruff Allen Cribbs, she was a lifelong resident of Polk County, She was a Homemaker She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lake Wales, Florida.

Mrs Melhorn was preceded in death by her parents and also her husband, Warren William Melhorn, in 1991. She is survived by her sons, Harvey Leon Byrd, of Sneeds Ferry, North Carolina, Franklin Dale Byrd, of Gulf Hammock, Florida, James Robert Byrd, of Winter Haven, Florida, Warren Alan Melhorn, of Bartow, Florida; daughters, Velma Jo Teems, of Frostproof, Florida, Darlene Marvel, of Elba, Alabama, Marita Melhorn, of Frostproof, Florida, Twenty seven grandchildren, and Twenty seven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 - 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City, Florida, with the funeral Services following at 11:00 A.M. Reverend Paul Tipton, Riverview Baptist Church, Ft. Pierce, Florida will officiate. Final resting place will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Haines City, Florida.
