| | Walter T. Taton LAKE WALES - Walter T. Taton, 83, of Lake Wales, died on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, in Auburndale.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., he came to Lake Wales in 1992 from Gorham, Maine.
He drove a truck for St. Johnsbury Trucking Co. for 14 years. He was manager at Sanborn Trucking Co. for several years, worked for the city of Westbrook, Maine, taking care of all baseball fields. He was an aviation machinist mate third class in the U.S. Navy and also served in the Shore Patrol.
Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Bertie Tapley Taton of Lake Wales; three sons, Thomas Taton of Maine, Jimmy Daniel of Melbourne and David Daniel of Johnson City, Tenn.; four daughters, Pam Stoddard of Maine, Patricia Swett of Maine, Judi Smith of Maine and Alane Richardville of Babson Park; a sister, Edith O'Keefe of Portland, Maine; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City. The funeral will immediately follow visitation at the funeral home. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Haines City.
