Haines City - Florence Hudson died peacefully Thursday, Nov. 9th. in Haines City, Florida. She was 90.
Born on a rural farm near Elba, Alabama on Feb. 9, 1916, she was the second of 8 children. In 1928 she married Macon Hudson also of Alabama. In 1937 she and her husband followed her brothers to Central Florida settling in Haines City where she was a longtime member of Eastside Baptist Church. "There was always something on the stove in Florence's house" said Justin Wales, nephew. "you could stop by anytime and she would set a table full of good country food like she knew you were coming." Her house was the cornerstone to her entire family's fellowship but her love of providing for people was not limited to her large extended family. The church and community were frequent beneficiaries of her talents in the kitchen. In a town full of great bakers, Mrs. Hudson's cakes and pies were quick movers in charity bake sales.
Mrs. Hudson was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Macon Hudson.
She is survived by her son, Bill Hudson, also of Haines City, and her brothers, C. T. Bailey of Lithia, Fl. and Duke B. Bailey of LaBelle, Florida.
