HAINES CITY -- Mr. Marco Antonio Gonzalez of Haines City died of injuries sustained in an auto accident Sunday (May 21, 2006) in Lakeland. He was 17.
Born in Porterville, Calif., on Feb. 7, 1989, he came to Haines City from California in 1989. He was a student at Haines City High School, where he played soccer. He also played with the Imperial League in Auburndale, Lakeland Lazers, Lakeland Shockers, Lakeland Soccer Club, and Winter Haven Kicks. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.
Mr. Gonzalez is survived by his mother, Maria Jimenez, Haines City; father, Desidoro O. Gonzalez, Haines City; sisters, Alexandra Gonzalez, Cecilia Gonzalez, both of Haines City; maternal grandmother, Maria S. Jimenez, Haines City; maternal grandfather, Jose Jimenez, Haines City; maternal greatgrandparents, Raul and Luisa Carranza, California.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church at the Grenelefe Convention Center. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City.
