DAVENPORT -- Mr. Leon D. Gonyo of Davenport died of a heart attack Sunday (March 26, 2006) in Davenport. He was 72.
Born in Winooski, Vt., on Sept. 5, 1933, he became a winter resident of Davenport in 1992, coming from Colchester, Vt. He was a plumbing superintendent for W.O. Smith Plumbing and Heating for 10 years, and he worked for Essex Plumbing for 11 years and for Qulette Plumbing and Heating for 10 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Burlington. He was a Catholic.
Mr. Gonyo is survived by his wife, Barbara Gonyo; son, Leon Gonyo II, Tamarac; daughter, Valerie Guilmette, Winooski, Vt.; brothers, Herbert Gonyo Jr., Williston, Vt. and Davenport, Reginald Gonyo, Milton, Vt.; sisters, Irene Maskell, Pearl Whitehouse, both of Burlington, Ruth Shelley, DeFuniak Springs, Leona Turner, Milton, Rosalie Genest, St. George, Vt., and Davenport; two grandchildren.
Services will be held in Winooski, Vt.
Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City.
