| | Richard "Dick" Halfast HAINES CITY -- Mr. Richard "Dick" Halfast of Haines City died of Lou Gehrig's disease Sunday (March 19, 2006) in Winter Haven. He was 75.
Born in Corry, Pa., on Sept. 9, 1930, he came to Haines City from North Carolina 10 years ago. He was a retired sergeant major with the Green Berets, having served in the U.S. Army Special Forces for 24 years.
Mr. Halfast is survived by his wife, Carolyn Halfast; sons, Richard Lee Halfast Jr., Lee Summit, Mo., and Kenneth Lynn Halfast and Marvin Lorrince Halfast, both of Fayetteville, N.C.; daughter, Serena Halfast, Florida; brother, John Halfast, Haines City; sisters, Phyllis Fish, New Mexico, and Ruth Ann Stutsman, Texas; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
