WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. William Lamar Groover of Winter Haven died of cancer Tuesday (June 20, 2006) in Winter Haven. He was 69.
Born in Haines City on Dec. 30, 1936, he was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a foreman in the citrus industry and other various places. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of Waverly Baptist Church.
Mr. Groover is survived by his wife, Carolyn Jo Groover; sons, Ben A. Groover, Oklahoma City, Okla., William "Lamar" Groover, Winter Haven; daughter, Cheri Toepfer-Kent, Winter Haven; brother, Jerry Groover, Wahneta; sisters, Peggy Ledford, Mary Cassidy, both of Wahneta, Betty Hackle, Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Winter Haven. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Rolling Hills Cemetery in Winter Haven.
