Nicanor C. Afable


HAINES CITY -- Dr. Nicanor C. Afable of Haines City died of a heart attack Monday (June 19, 2006) at Florida Hospital in Orlando. He was 79.

Born in Philippines on Dec. 28, 1926, he came to Haines City from Clifton, Ill., in 1980. He was physician for a family practice. He was secretary and treasurer of the Kankakee Medical Association. He was director of the Grenelefe Homeowners Association. He was a member of Mary, Queen of the Universe Shrine Catholic Church in Orlando.

Dr. Afable is survived by his wife, Beatrice C.V. Afable; sons, Mark Afable, Sun Prairie, Wis., Victor Afable, Temecula, Calif.; sisters, Dr. Concordia Ligad, Angeles Palma, Dora Diez, all of Philippines; four grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at St. Ann Catholic Church, Haines City.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the giver's choice.
