WINTER HAVEN - James Franklin Ramsey, 71, of Winter Haven, Florida, formerly of Houston, Texas, passed peacefully from this life on July 11, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer and heart disease. He was preceded in death by his father, James M. Ramsey, sister, Grace Blankenship, and life long friend, Troy Dolin. Born December 31, 1934 in Weeksbury, KY, Mr. Ramsey's many achievements include being an honor graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from Morris Harvey College in Charleston, WV, a Masters of Vocational Education Degree from Texas A&M University and an executive career in teaching and sales management. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Ramsey, of Winter Haven, his mother, Elizabeth Ramsey, of West Virginia, one adored daughter, Diana Smith, of Crockett, Texas, three grandchildren, Cory, Casey and Kylie Smith, all of Crockett; one Godson, Jimmy Dolin, of Tampa; three sisters, Jackie McKinney, Helen Jarrell, and Dorothy Burns of Quinland West Virginia; six nieces, two nephews, six grandnieces and five grandnephews. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. till 10 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2006 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 2425 Havendale Boulevard, Winter Haven, FL 33881. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. .
