 Jacquelyn Jones Soldo

WINTER HAVEN - Jacquelyn Jones Soldo of Winter Haven died Saturday, July 8, 2006.

In her 93 years, Jacquelyn lived an extraordinary life. Fiercely independent, drawn to adventure and driven by purpose, she was a world traveler and an accomplished artist and writer. She trained in Florence and Rome in the early 1930s and traveled Europe on the back of an Indian motorcycle.

A prolific sculptress, she completed or collaborated on several private and public commissions including a statute of Huey P. Long that stands on the grounds of the Louisiana State Capitol building and several works for the Catholic Archdiocese of Florida. Jacquelyn enjoyed the company of a loving family, close friends and good books. She never stopped learning and growing.

Born June 5, 1913, in Marion, Ind., to Inez and Otto Jones, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Anne Burkett. She is survived by her son, M.J. Soldo III; three grandchildren, Mia Soldo Hanson, Paige Tani Soldo, and Sean Michael Soldo; and three great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Sam and Dylaan.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Ridge Funeral Care. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823.

"Mom, Gramma, GG, we will miss you and love you always."
