HAINES CITY -- Mr. John Perry Blackwelder of Haines City died of cancer Wednesday (Jan. 25, 2006) in Haines City. He was 65.
Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Oct. 15, 1940, he came to Haines City in 1942. He was a harvesting manager for Haines City Citrus Growers Association and he was a citrus grove owner. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Sons of the Confederate Veterans and Military, and the Order of Stars and Bars. He was a member of the General E.M. Law Camp in Bartow. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Haines City.
Mr. Blackwelder is survived by his wife, Marilyn Ann Blackwelder; son, John Steven Blackwelder, Haines City; daughter, Paula Suzanne Almallah, Haines City; brother, Parley Richard Blackwelder, Haines City; sister, Emma Kay Brown, Virginia; three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 1001 Grace Ave., Haines City. Services will follow at noon at the funeral home chapel.
