HAINES CITY -- Mr. Luther "Bud" Owens of Haines City died of lung failure Tuesday (Jan. 17, 2006) in Haines City. He was 71.
Born in Oakman, Ga., on June 23, 1934, he came to Haines City from Brooksville in 1976. He was a retired truck driver for the Orange Ring in Haines City. He was a member of the Christian Heritage Baptist Church in Winter Haven where he was a trustee, chairman of the building committee and treasurer.
Mr. Owens is survived by his wife, Mildred Owens; sons, Ronnie Owens, Luthersville, Ga.; daughters, Faye Whatley, Lake Wales, Carolyn Longcore, Vero Beach, Lisa Brown, Warm Springs, Ga., Sherry Williams, Crossville, Tenn.; sister, Mildred Sherrill, Crossville; 11 grandchildren; 17 greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Christian Heritage Baptist Church, 150 Spirit Lake Road, Winter Haven. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City.
