Denzil "Shorty" Shelton

 

WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Denzil "Shorty" Shelton of Winter Haven died of heart failure Friday (Feb. 24, 2006). He was 88.

Born Feb. 17, 1918, in Giles County, Tenn., Mr. Shelton moved to Winter Haven from Ohio in 1981. He served in the Army and fought in World War II. He worked as a quality control worker for General Motors. He attended Inman Park Church of Christ, where he served as deacon.

Mr. Shelton was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Shelton. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Shelton, Winter Haven; stepdaughter, Peggy Ann Woodward, Winter Haven; stepson, Charles B. Hunnicutt, Winter Haven; brother, David Shelton, Winter Haven; three grandchildren; and two great-grand-children.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Winter Haven. Services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
