 Arlon D. Chaffin


AUBURNDALE -- Dr. Arlon D. Chaffin of Auburndale died of complications of dementia Sunday (Feb. 5, 2006) at Good Shepherd Hospice. He was 74.

Born in Hornsby, Tenn., on Feb. 11, 1931, he came to Auburndale in 1989. He was a chiropractic physician and a teacher for the Polk County School Board. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Reynolds Road Baptist Church.

Mr. Chaffin is survived by his wife, Ida M. Comfort Chaffin; daughters, Alice Marcrum, Fort Myers, Iris Street, Williamsburg, Va., Donna Harris, Brandon, Miss., Crystal Chaffin, St. Cloud; sons, Michael Harrell, Louisville, Miss., Richard Harris, Brandon; brother, Irvin Chaffin, Illinois; sisters, Bonnie Knox, Mary Sue Webb, both of Lake Lure, N.C., Betty Whitley, Greenville; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Winter Haven. Services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Ludlow Cemetery, Ludlow, Miss.
