HAINES CITY - Ray W. Gardner died of renal failure on 12/4/06 at his residence.
He was born in Forsyth County, NC on 2/28/25 and moved to Richmond, VA at an early age, where he lived until he entered the US Navy at the beginning of WW II. He returned to civilian life after the war where he worked in Norfolk, VA. He then returned to military service with the US Army, where he served at various duty stations, until his retirement from active duty on 5/31/65, at Fort Benning, GA and returned to live in Richmond, VA. He moved to Haines City in 1997.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara G. Gardner; sons, Edward R. Gardner (Dr. Mary Gardner), James A. Gardner (Karen), Jimmy Jerome Carroll, Gregory O. Carroll; daughters, Margaret McWhirter (David), Marie L. Komar (Richard); 10 grandchildren; brothers, Paul S. Gardner & Donald Gardner.
Visitation will be Weds. From 5-7 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City and funeral services will be Thurs. at 10 am at First Christian Church, Haines City.
