| | Dr. Robert Ralph Barber 
LAKELAND -- The Dr.Robert Ralph Barber of Lakeland died of heart failure Wednesday (April 19, 2006) in Lakeland. He was 74.
Born in Green Bay, Wis., on Aug. 24, 1931, he came to Haines City in 1945, and to Lakeland from Tampa 10 years ago. He was a retired reverend and pastor for the United Methodist Church. He graduated from the University of Florida and received his master's degree from Emory University in Atlanta. He received his doctorate from Drew University in Madison, N.J. He was an adviser to the administration of Florida Annual United Methodist Church Conference and a trustee for the Florida Annual United Methodist Church Conference. He was a member of Palmaceia United Methodist Church in Tampa.
The Rev. Barber is survived by his wife, Sarah Berry Barber; sons, Boyd Barber, Bradenton, Blake Barber, Mont Verde; daughter, Mary Pierce, Jacksonville; brother, Jim Barber, Haines City; sisters, Helen Wheeley, Orlando, Cynthia Repass, Haines City; one grandchild.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Oak Ridge Funeral Home, Haines City. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church of Lakeland. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City.
