WINTER HAVEN -- Mrs. Gayle C. Brown of Winter Haven died of cancer Saturday (Sept. 24, 2005) at Winter Haven Hospital. She was 69.

Born April 18, 1936, in Winston-Salem, N.C., Mrs. Brown moved to Winter Haven from there in 1968. She worked as a district manager for Sands Total Food Service and also worked as a truck driver. She was a Baptist.

Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Willis D. "Willie" Brown. She is survived by her sons, Willis D. "Billy" Brown Jr., Winter Haven, Bobby E. Thompson Jr., Winston-Salem, Steven Craig Thompson, Kernersville, N.C.; daughters, Beverly Gayle Hill, Kernersville; brother, Grady Clifton, Clemmons, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Winter Haven. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Good Shepherd Hospice.
