WINTER HAVEN -- Mrs. Garnet C. Johnstone of Winter Haven died of lung failure Thursday (Sept. 22, 2005) at home. She was 97.

Born in Indianapolis on April 23, 1908, Mrs. Johnstone came to Winter Haven from Buffalo, N.Y., in 1969. She was a homemaker and a member of Kappa Chi Sorority. She was a member of the Christian Womens Association of Buffalo, N.Y. She was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church in Winter Haven, and the church choir.

Mrs. Johnstone was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert E. Brown, and her second husband, Thomas Johnstone. She is survived by her daughters, Suzie R. Cooney, Winter Haven, S. Patricia Krochmal, Buffalo, N.Y., Barbara Johnstone, Paonia, Colo.; sons, Ronald E. Brown, Plant City, Gary P. Brown, Rockville, Md.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 2425 W. Havendale Blvd., Winter Haven
