DAVENPORT -- Mr. Bernardo Torres of Davenport died of cancer Monday (Oct. 31, 2005) in Celebration. He was 80.
Born in Coamo, Puerto Rico, on June 6, 1925, he came to Davenport from Miami in 1996. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Hialeah, and a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. He was a member of the National Law Enforcement Association. He was an Army veteran of World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War, retiring as a staff sergeant. He was Catholic.
Mr. Torres is survived by his wife, Sieglinde Torres; daughter, Silvia Torres, Orlando; son, Anibal Torres, Elizabeth, N.J.; sister, Carmen Bustillo, Hialeah.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 this evening at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 1001 Grace Ave., Haines City. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Auburndale.
