DAVENPORT -- Mr. Arthur J. Chagnon of Davenport died of heart failure Tuesday (Dec. 6, 2005) at Florida Hospital, Celebration. He was 79.

Born Dec. 1, 1926, in Chepachet, R.I., Mr. Chagnon moved to Davenport from Rhode Island 22 years ago. He served in the Navy during World War II. He worked as an electronics mechanic for the government. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as a Grand Knight. He was also a member of Disabled American Veterans and NARF. He attended St. Ann Catholic Church, Haines City.

Mr. Chagnon is survived by his wife, Eleanor Chagnon; son, Thomas W. Chagnon, Providence, R.I.; and daughter, Rebekah A. Chagnon, Providence.
