LAKE ALFRED -- Mr. James Gornikiewicz of Lake Alfred died of cancer Friday (Dec. 9, 2005) at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital. He was 56.

Born Dec. 27, 1948, in Buffalo, N.Y., Mr. Gornikiewicz moved to Lake Alfred from Buffalo in 2003. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a prison guard. He was a member of the Winter Haven Moose Lodge.

Mr. Gornikiewicz is survived by his brother, James Garner, Lake Alfred; mother, Dorothy Gornikiewicz, Lake Alfred; son, Brandon James Gornikiewicz, Clarence, N.Y.; sister, Deborah Goodwill, Akron, N.Y.
