WINTER HAVEN -- George W. Davis, 86, of Winter Haven, died of heart failure on Tuesday, December 6, 2005, in Winter Haven.

A native of Areola, Ala., he came to the area in 1976 from Midway, Ala.

He was retired from the U.S. Army as a weapons instructor at the rank of master sergeant, then worked as a wildlife manager at Enon Farm Plantation, Midway, Ala. He was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Davis of Winter Haven; a son, Radford William Davis of Winter Haven; a daughter, Joyce Akeson of Winter Haven; a sister, Katherine Marchman of Sealy, Texas; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Florida National Cemetery.
