Francis William Byrne Jr., 80, of Haines City, died of heart failure Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005.

A native of Connellsville, Pa., he moved to Haines City in 1993 from Connellsville, Pa.

He was an engineer and attended St. Ann's Catholic Church, Haines City.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus; B.P.O.E.; V.F.W.; American Legion Post 8, Winter Haven; Slovak Citizens Club, Connellsville, Pa. He was veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Gretta Jean Byrne of Haines City; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Whitelatch of Connellsville, Pa.; two sons, Francis W. Byrne III of Cornelius, N.C. and Scott Grier Byrne of Port Allen, La.; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City. Funeral service, will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann's Catholic Church.
