John A. McHenry, 84, of Davenport, died of heart failure on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, in Davenport.

A native of Elmira, N.Y., he moved to Florida 10 to 12 years ago from Elmira, N.Y. and moved to Davenport three years ago from Hernando County.

He was a mail handler for the U.S.P.S. in New York. He was a 32nd degree Mason in New York and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II and Korea.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Duella McHenry.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy M. Borden of Davenport; a son, Charles McHenry of Tennessee; a sister, Hattie Margeson of Horseheads, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
