Carl W. Melton, 84, of Haines City, died of heart failure on Friday, June 24, 2005, at Longwood.

A native of Langdale, Ala., he came to the area from Crestview in 1959.

He was a truck driver, a veteran of World War II who served in the Army Air Corp and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Jane Newton of Longwood; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m Thursday at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City.
